Cycling trails

Active holiday

There are more than 1,000 kilometres of landscaped and marked cycling trails on the island of Brač.

Two trails run through Postira as part of the island’s joint project: the Profunda trail and the Macići and Vivers trail.

Profunda Trail

This somewhat more difficult 31.8-kilometer-long route was named after the Mountaineering Society “Profunda – Brač,” which operates throughout the island and whose members are significantly responsible for the organization of numerous cycling and hiking trails on Brač.

The trail leads from Postira to the Ethno Eco Village Dol, and from Dol to Gažul, where you can explore a protected shepherd’s hut showing the traditional way of life of the Brač shepherds.

The trail from Gažul leads to Pražnice and then down to the sea and the sandy bay of Lovrečina, where the archeological site of the Basilica of St. Lawrence from the 5th/6th century may be seen.

Return to Postira by the path that runs alongside the coastline through a beautiful pine forest.

The Macići and Vivers Path

This 19.6 km trail was named after supernatural beings connected with Postira and Dol. If you meet a local, do not hesitate to ask him about legends related to those beings.

The path begins in the centre of Postira and continues along outdoor trails which will take you to Mirje archaeological site and then to Eco-Ethno village Dol. Here do not miss to taste hrapoćuša – the traditional cake.

The trail further continues to Škrip, the oldest Brač village and then takes you back through the village Splitska and along the shore.
